Ichnusa Lines doubles turnover and passengers in 2022

The 2022 season of Ichnusa Lines, the shipping company connecting Santa Teresa di Gallura and Bonifacio owned 50/50 by the Finsea Group and San Giorgio del Porto, ended on 31 October.

The line boldly launched the crossing last year when the season was well underway and amidst the restrictions imposed by the ongoing pandemic which penalised travel between countries. Despite this, the season thrived in terms of total passengers: 90 thousand crossings and a percentage increase of 128% over the previous year and in respect of net turnover (+153%). A very good result, “flawed” by the staggering increase in bunker costs, but still worthy of note.

Moby Lines also operates on the route, with four pairs of daily crossings, one more than Ichnusa Lines, and a market share of around 42%.

Between April and October, 19 thousand cars, 4.5 thousand motorbikes, more than 2 thousand camper vans and almost 3 thousand commercial vehicles also travelled on our ferries.

The Ichnusa vessel, which is currently undergoing routine maintenance in the shipyard, will return to sail the Strait of Bonifacio in April 2023.
